How you can help

This is a critical time for clean energy in Hawaii. If we get a good FIT law, we have a chance to gain billions of dollars in clean energy investments. Without it, we remain addicted to oil and pollute the planet.

Chris Mentzel (Clean Energy Maui LLC) is an intervenor who argues for a full size FIT, similar to the German model. If you can offer financial support for the hearings week and a fact-finding mission to Germany, click here.

The press knows little about clean energy, let alone the FIT. Any letters to the editor in support of the FIT or a rapid move to clean energy will make a visible difference. There is plenty information on this website and at Clean Energy Maui.

The PUC is independent, similar to a court and the commissioners are to make their decision independently. However, your letters will be read. Example letters will be posted here in the next days.

Almost every politician ran on a platform that included clean energy for Hawaii. However, since Hawaiian Electric is a private company there is limited influence from the legislature. It's good to thank them for their efforts with current energy legislature and alert them to the importance of the FIT.

Finally, Hawaiian Electric and Maui Electric are listening to their customers and they need to hear that the majority of their customers does want to get away from burning oil.
